Who is Eligible to Vote
You have the right to vote in an Indiana election, if:
- You are both a U.S. citizen and a resident of Indiana; and
- You will be at least 18 years of age at the next General Election, November 4, 2008; and
- You are not currently in prison after being convicted of a crime; and
- You has lived in the precinct where you vote for at least 30 days prior to the election; and
- You are registered to vote.
Voters who need to register for the first time, or those who have moved and need to change their name or address must do so on or before April 9, 2007 for the May 8, 2007 Municipal Primary Election or October 9, 2007 for the November 6, 2007 Municipal Election. To register, visit IndianaVoters.com.
Certain voters who register to vote by mail are required to present additional documentation to the county voter registration office that confirm the residence address of the voter. (NOTE: This is in addition to the photo ID requirement). The voter may present any of the following types of documents, including:
- Indiana Driver’s License
- State identification card
- Any other current and valid photo ID
- Current utility bill, bank statement, government check, or paycheck showing the voter’s current name and address.
