Taxation Platform
Taxation
I have watched and listened to politician after politician promise a simpler, fairer, and more understandable tax code. We listen to politicians who have spent their entire lives in Congress promising an improved system. They have had years to deliver us such a system and failed.
This year, Congress even went so far as to say, “whoops”, we have taken too much of your money and we need to return some to you as a “stimulus” package. We have taken so much that it hurts our national economy.
At the same time Congress has authorized the spending of more money than it presently takes from its citizens. Currently the government borrows money to operate all of its programs. Although I fully believe that borrowing is appropriate as an investment towards future productivity and return, borrowing without a reasonable expectation for a return on the investment is not prudent.
Therefore, any true discussion on taxation must be firmly linked to true budgetary control.
Taxation in itself is not evil and as Americans we have enjoyed a multitude of benefits from our pooled resources. However, it must always be remembered that is the labor and productivity of the individual citizen that supplies Congress with the funds that run our government and the prudent use of those funds is the representatives’, senators’, and president’s most sacred trust.
Although emotionally I would favor a complete overhaul of the tax code I do not believe the US Congress would seriously consider such an undertaking.
What is the one concept I can champion:
I believe that personal industry should be encouraged and rewarded. Presently, individuals who demonstrate the fortitude to tackle a second job in order to better provide for their families face a tax penalty for working harder. I believe that those individuals so willing to take on a second job over and above their first full-time position should not be penalized by advancing into a higher tax bracket. They should instead have the second job taxed separately in a tax bracket that is at least half of what they are asked to pay with there first full-time employed position.
What you can do to help Dr. Stall make this happen.
- Give him your vote so he can represent you in Washington.
- Use your sphere of influence to attract others to his campaign.
- Volunteer and become involved.
